Y Combinator BackedAbout Articulate
We're building AI to eliminate the $31 billion lost annually to construction rework (CII). Founded by construction and software veterans who've lived the pain firsthand.
Our Story
Articulate started from real frustration on real jobsites. Our founding team spent years in the construction industry—managing projects, coordinating trades, and dealing with the consequences when drawings didn't match reality. We watched millions of dollars burn on rework that could have been prevented with better plan review.
The problem wasn't that people didn't care. It was that manually reviewing hundreds of drawings across multiple disciplines, checking for coordination conflicts, code compliance, and missing information—it's simply too much for any team to catch everything. Important issues slip through, and by the time they're discovered in the field, fixing them costs 10x more.
We combined our construction experience with deep software engineering expertise to build what we wished we'd had: AI that reads drawings like an experienced project manager, catches the issues that humans miss, and does it in minutes instead of days.

Y Combinator Backed

Articulate is proud to be part of Y Combinator, the world's most prestigious startup accelerator. Y Combinator has backed companies like Airbnb, Stripe, DoorDash, Coinbase, and over 4,000 other startups with a combined valuation of over $600 billion.
Being a YC company means we're held to the highest standards of execution, product quality, and customer focus. We're building a company designed to transform how the construction industry approaches plan review and coordination.

Eliminate costly construction rework by catching issues before they reach the field.
The construction industry is one of the least digitized sectors of the economy, yet it represents 13% of global GDP (McKinsey Global Institute). Every year, the US construction industry loses $31 billion to rework (CII)—mistakes that could have been caught during plan review but weren't because manual review simply can't scale.
We believe AI can fundamentally change this equation. Not by replacing experienced professionals, but by giving them superpowers: the ability to review drawings faster, catch more issues, and focus their expertise where it matters most.
Our goal is to make AI-powered drawing analysis the standard in construction—as essential as Procore for project management or Bluebeam for PDF markup. Every project, every drawing set, every team should have access to this technology.
Why We're Different
Built by Builders
We've lived the pain of rework and RFIs. We're not outsiders guessing what construction needs—we've been in the field and the trailer.
Works with 2D PDFs
Unlike BIM clash detection that requires 3D models, Articulate works with the drawings you already have. No model, no problem.
Integrates with Your Workflow
Native Procore and Autodesk integration. Push issues as RFIs with one click. Articulate fits into how you already work.
The Problem We Solve
Industry Statistics
- $31 billion lost annually to construction rework in the US (CII)
- 5-10% of total construction costs go to rework (FMI)
- 52% of rework is caused by project data and communication issues (PlanGrid)
- $1,080 average cost to process a single RFI (Navigant)
- 800+ RFIs on average for a $50M project
What This Means
- A $50M project can lose $2.5-5M to preventable rework
- RFI costs alone can exceed $800,000 per major project
- Issues found in preconstruction cost 10x less to fix than in the field
- Manual review catches only 60-70% of issues; AI can push this to 90%+
- Every hour spent in preconstruction review saves 5+ hours in the field
